The UQCTP is offering expert advice to the European Commission Joint Research Centre as part of the Enlightenment 2.0 project.
Enlightenment 2.0 explores the extent to which facts, values and social relations affect political behaviour and decision-making. The aim is to understand the drivers that influence policy decisions and political discourse at all levels of the political system, in order to optimise the way that scientific evidence is used in policy-making.
To this end, Enlightenment 2.0 put together a panel of 59 experts including economists, sociologists, linguists, political scientists, physicists, psychologists, medical doctors, pedagogists, and philosophers. UQCTP curriculum director Peter Ellerton joined the panel and will be contributing expertise in critical thinking, education, and the public understanding of science.
The project kicked off on 30 May 2018 with a two-day workshop held in Brussels, Belgium. It is expected to end in December 2018.
