We all struggle under the burden of cognitive biases, comfortable narratives, fake news and the “infoglut” that is the Internet. While some worry about ‘truth decay’, the truth is not decaying, just becoming harder to find. So what are our best strategies for coping with this situation? One is to focus on what we understand by ‘public reasoning’ and how this Enlightenment ideal can be made to work in the modern age. This talk by Peter Ellerton will address public reasoning as a solution to our current epistemic crisis.
